“Handclaps and Guitars” is the recently released Itunes single of the week. While this track is catchy and fun it will be like an annoying mosquito that will be buzzing in your ear all summer. There are no great musical or lyrical qualities to this piece but, that’s what Pop music is. Fluff, mindless and to some, fun.
Chiddy Bang is a duo out of Philadelphia and is often described as a fusion of Alternative and Hip-Hop, but once again speaking over a beat does not make a song Hip-Hop. Maybe Hip-Pop.
While not grating and awful musical purists will cringe while teens will rejoice. This is not for the age group able to legally buy drinks or have lowered insurance. This is clearly for the “my parents are out-of-town ride your skateboard over and we can smoke weed in the garage and feel up girls” crowd.
With lyrics like “…does somebody have a L that they can pass me, I upgraded to a little more classy, I guess I got this in the bag we should have tea…English girls, English girls…” while not profound they do have an elementary word play that suits the intended audience.
So if you are of the set with a curfew and have to borrow the rents car this is an easy taste of a fun summer time album.
